Small Business Saturday – Saturday 5th December
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success, encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities, and seeks to inspire and encourage new businesses.
Originally a US initiative, conceived and promoted by American Express, Small Business Saturday is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was first held in 2010, and the inaugural UK event was in 2013.
Now in its third year, Small Business Saturday in the UK aims to make more of a splash than ever before. Chiltern Chamber is keen to add to the momentum, seeking to raise awareness on behalf of its members and indeed all businesses within Chesham, Amersham and surroundings. Whilst Saturday December 5th is the main focal point of the event, the impact is intended to be ongoing and long lasting.
By a happy coincidence, Saturday December 5th is also the date of the Amersham Christmas Showcase. The Chamber will be present, and is working on ideas to focus its participation on small business and traders. We hope to work alongside various other local organisations, who are also planning their own initiatives. We are open to all ideas, and anyone with a suggestion should contact Vee Bharakda or Robert Gibson.
