The South Bucks Hospice emphasises a holistic approach to palliative care, meaning that we look after the whole person, and their family. South Bucks Hospice is a charity that supports over 600 patients per annum living with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses through the provision of specialist palliative care on an outpatient basis. We are based at Butterfly House, Kingswood Park, High Wycombe and as the only day hospice in South Buckinghamshire, it serves over 350,000 people.
SBH told the Chiltern Chamber: ‘Our services are free, and we help people at any stage in their diagnosis to adjust physically, psychologically, socially and emotionally to their condition, to keep well and to cope with any health and care needs wherever possible.’
The Hospice supports individuals through:
- Pain and symptom management
- Counselling
- Complementary therapy
- Advance care planning
- Spiritual care
- Lymphoedema management
- Physiotherapy
- A wide range of support groups
- Bereavement support
- Practical support, advice and guidance e.g. housing and benefit application support
We also help with signposting to other appropriate services who can help with care and wellbeing. This service is something that many of us may well need for ourselves, our friends or loved ones at some point and it is only marginally funded by the government so any local support is always much appreciated.
If you can offer support either financially or by volunteering your time and skills do get in touch either by our email: info@sbhospice.org.uk or telephone number: 01494 552750
