Benefits of Joining Chiltern Chamber

Joining the Chiltern Chamber

Chiltern Chamber exists to support businesses and the economy across The Chiltern region through a broad range of activities.

In this video, Ralph Hilsdon of Chesham-based e-mail marketing agency Web-Clubs explains his perspective of the role of the Chamber, and what it offers to businesses.

Networking

First and foremost, we are a Networking Organisation. Our membership base enables us to create regular opportunities for members to meet, make new contacts, and discover new business opportunities.

Details of meetings are shown on our Networking page.

Events are open to members and non-members, though we would urge non-members to consider joining the Chamber if they attend regularly and make use of our networking platform.

Business and Local Information

We act as a conduit for business and local information. Our networking meetings are opportunities to share information, both from the speakers at the event and among members.

We help disseminate information about major local issues that may affect economic growth, such as the Joint Local Plan and HS2, as well as pass on feedback from our members.

Catch up with recent activity via our social platforms; Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn!

Promoting Your Business

All Chamber members have a page on the Chamber website to promote their business. It contains a description of your services and the all-important contact details, and you can add a member-2-member offer.

This information is included in a searchable database of members and services.

Access to Advice

Our Committee and Ambassadors are made up largely of business owners and senior employees, with considerable and varied experience of business.

When asked to help or advise on specific business issues, we can help, or put you in touch with a specialist in the field.

Several of our officers have considerable experience in dealing with local government and other institutions. This facilitate understanding of specific issues, gives us and our members a voice, and influence in local consultations. Our committee includes appointed Councillor representatives from Amersham and Chesham Town Councils and Chiltern District Council.

A Growing Sphere of Influence

We have been extending our sphere of influence in recent years. We have good working relationships with local government organisations and other business groups, which ensure that our initiatives bring value to our members.

Developing Young People

We take an active interest in development of skills and young people in the region, a precondition of future proofing sustainable economic growth in the area. We have Committee members closely involved with the Opps in Bucks initiative, Young Enterprise, and Bucks Thames Valley LEP (Bucks Skills Hub), and as Enterprise Advisers in our local schools. We support the annual Bucks Skills Show and welcome groups of students to all of our events.

Having Fun

Business is a serious subject but we also like to have some fun! Some of our events, such as our summer garden party and Christmas event, are very social occasions, conducive to making new friends as well as business contacts. We support local charities at these events in association with other local organisations.

Raising Your Profile in the Community

If you would like to take a more proactive role with the Chamber, volunteering is an opportunity to raise your business and personal profile, contribute knowledge and skills in a meaningful way, and to develop new knowledge and skills.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers, and whatever your skills or experience, we can put them to use! You can read more about volunteering here.

What our members say:

As a business advisor to local SMEs, joining the Chiltern Chamber was a really smart move giving me introductions not only to a wide range of companies who might need my services but also to other professionals with a range of skills that complement those I offer. In my role I have to be able to deal with any subject that a client raises and having a well-established local network enables me to achieve this. What makes this all the better is that they are a really great group of people all with the aim to drive the local business community forward.
